Program Options

Rise Above has grown to include students from K-12.  Many students in K-3 participate in our ‘Katie the Caterpillar Program’. Students in grades 4-6 enjoy our ‘Goal Setters’ Programs, whereas students in 7-9 benefit most from our after school Programs, which feature Character & Leadership Dynamics.  Students in 10-12 are most interested in Career Education & Readiness Seminars. There is something of great interest to all the students who participate in Rise Above.

The Katie Caterpillar & Goal-Setters Programs

The Katie the Caterpillar & Goal Setters programs have been specifically designed to meet the Character Education needs of students in grades K-6. The primary function of Katie Caterpillar is to visually show kids the importance of establishing good character & working with others. The primary function of Goal-Setters is to build self-esteem, confidence, and creativity in group settings.

Using Character Tenets, the programs are designed for three specific groups: Group 1, K-2:  will learn one and two syllable words and correlate them to colors Group 2, Grades 3-4:  will learn two to four syllable words, define their meaning through writing Group 3, Grades 5-6:  will write essay papers & create puzzles using tenets in meaningful ways to demonstrate leadership and ability to work in groups.

Within each group is the dynamic of teamwork, team concepts, patience particularly while students created, build, and design visual art & collages to express their interests.  These groups are very interactive yet remain controlled by the Group Leaders.

Created by 3rd and 4th grade Goal Setters

Four Dimensional Purpose:

1. Students will learn the Character Tenets by using 1-4 syllable words.

2. Student will be held responsible for the spelling, meaning, and use of the tenets.

3. Upon Caterpillar Character completion, students will build a Cocoon representing their learning and then move into Phase 4.

4. Brenda the Butterfly – explains the transformation and identifies the difference, if any, in Katie and Brenda.  This is the Leadership phase.

Lastly, Parenting Component – upon completion, parents are invited to participate in the Cocoon.

We also have many programs already in place that deal with conflict resolution, anger management, and gang awareness. Parents, schools, organizations, and youth authority agencies are especially encouraged to contact us.
